Athletics day

Last week on Friday the middles and seniors had athletics day. There were sports like, throwing, shot put, energise games, relay races, 100 metre sprints, 200 meter sprints, and 60 metre sprints.

It was a sweltering hot day. My favourite part was shot put because the balls were really heavy and I'm a good thrower. The 100 metre sprint was really hard because it was such a boiling hot day. 

For the energise games, there was an activity where we had to throw these rainbow fish balls to a partner. We also threw a ball at a bouncy net and had to try and catch it.

At the end of the athletics day we also had a syndicate relay race. There were 4 classes competing and each class has a group of ten people. They were then split in half and sent to opposite ends. Once the clapper went you had to sprint 50 meters to the other side and run around your group and hand the batten to the other person. You keep on doing this until everybody is finished.  Room 15 did really well and managed to beat Room 14 and win the senior relay race!

Swimming at Swimsafe (Water world)

We had a really fun time at swim safe.
I found diving super fun.
Learning butterfly was really hard.
What i found interesting was when your in the diving pool it is deep like really deep.
I really enjoyed walking down and it was super fun i also learnt some really cool strokes.

What did i learn?

I learnt how to to do the butterfly which is cool cause i can do all the Technics now.

What did i find challenging?

I found swimming with flutter boards cause they always move around.

What did i enjoy?

I enjoyed swimming,learning new things and doing relays with my friends.

I enjoyed practising free style up and down the lanes cause I am really confident at free style. I learned how to to the long dog (doggy paddle ) . I found the tornado really hard Its when you do free style then flip over and do backstroke.  

In term 4 i will be Awesome work hard in my enviroSchools and my other class work. At the end of term i will be heading off to maero and i will be leaving all my good friends like Elvis Riley Anthony  Troy and Jhaevhan.

This is the last term of the year meaning this is the last term my at Vardon school.I would like to thank miss Wyllie for           everything from maths to reading she has helped me a lot during school.What could i have done better in the past.

 Well i think math because maths is my weakest educational area.

what have i done better i think i did great with participating in a group or with others.

what will people remember me by?

my acts of kindness, volunteering, cooperating, great sportsmanship and being a great team member.

What I'm Gonna Do In Term 4?

 Term 4 would be the last term till I will be a Year 6. So in this post i will be writing about what I should do in the last term of the year. The goals that I have been thinking that I should try my very best to accomplish this term is that I should at least reach the finish line in our R.A.T.T ( Race Around The Track ) and at least improve a lot in my learning such as writing,reading,spelling and maths. I was also thinking that I should try my best to make lots of friends so I won't be lonely when my year 6 friends leaves me and goes to intermediate school. 

what I want to do with term 4?

In term 4 i am going to try to finish R.a.t.t. I want to improve in my reading and spelling. I want to have lot's of fun in term 4. I want to type really fast. I want to work on my writing too.

What am I going to do with term 4?

What have I enjoyed from the last 3 terms?

I have enjoyed being a house captain and leading sporting activities. I have enjoyed being in room 14 for reading and challenging my self. Maths has been really fun like it always is and I achieved my goal of completing R.A.T.T.


What am I proud of from the last 3 terms?


I am proud of becoming a house captain and getting into the speech final! I am proud of completing R.A.T.T and being chosen for 1 of the robotics groups.


What am I going to do with term for and what am I looking forward to?


I am looking forward to the services awards assembly so I can see if I will get an award. I am going to spend time with my friends. I am going to work really hard in all areas of learning because there is still 9 weeks to go!

I have loved my time here at Vardon but I am still looking forward to intermediate and becoming a year older!

What am i going to do in Term 4 ?

My Term 4 Reflection

This is my last term/year of vardon school until i head off to intermediate so i better enjoy my last term while i'm at it. This term i'm going to be a good role model for when i leave and spend most of my time on completing my goals so i get a good education for intermediate next year. I'm going to put my best in what i do and keep my Year 5 friends comfort so when i leave they won't forget me well hopefully. Another thing i need to do this term is give all my best to my teacher Miss Wyllie so hopefully she won't forget me too.

Term 4 reflction

In term 4 I hope that I learning some more writing,Reading,math and  some spelling too.I will play with my friend that almost leave school.my best friend that leave school is oliver,Alex,Jayda,poppy,Rose,Ryan and they are going to miss their teacher miss wyllie. 

What am i going to do with Term 4?

So I've been asked some question here they are:

Q1- What have you enjoyed this year so far?

A1- I have enjoyed becoming a Student Councillor and being a role model to younger children. Going to Lake Karapiro was a great experience and it was really fun.

Q2- What are you proud of?

A2- I'm proud of improving greatly in my maths and reading skills i'm also very proud of organising a fundraising event for foster hope.

Q3- What are you going to do with Term 4?

A3- I'm going to spend lots of time with my friends who aren't going to my intermediate. I'm going to make the most of my last term at Vardon. I'm also probably closer to the day of leaving go home and sulk.

100 Word Challenge Rose

Soft, curly  and quiet luxurious. What could this mystery material be? The material felt like a woollen jersey, but..  more curly and  dirty. The object that carried the material had just been under a bush. Maybe its a animal or furry little thing that carried this amazing material. The material carrier galloped back to me and went ''BABA"  in my face. The material gets made into things like jerseys. These different types of this material  Merino, Angora and Cashmere. Do you know what the material is? It's curly all the time and a sheep carriers it. Yes it is wool!!!

The material felt like a silky cloud. I couldn't wait for this to be sewn into a beautiful ballgown. I carefully feed the material to the machine. The material was so smooth it would tear at the slightest pull. Beautiful cream coloured ruffles fell out. I connected white satin ribbons to the dress. The silky material had created a dress with criss cross on the back with a low cut front. The ribbons hung from the sides like a waterfall. Silk touched my skin. I could feel the softness slide across me. Beautiful creamy silk material fell down my legs.

Once upon a time there was a world like earth but It was on the edge of collapse. There was boy named Alex. He was on a mission to save the world like earth and be a hero to the hole planet. when the boy was recruited to save the planet he was shocked. when he woke up from his sleep he was on the other planet. The bed that he was sleeping on felt like a plastic sheet that you buy in shops. " This is so uncomfortable."The material of the cloths felt like silk but better,softer and nicer.

Fair testing

Room 15 and I were doing a fair testing science experiment. We got some coke,tea,eggs,hot water and tap water. We cracked the eggs open and put them into cups, then we filled the cups with the liquids. After we put them on the window sill and left them for a week. Since it's been a week we are going to see what liquids have affected the egg shells. It looks like the coke and the tea are affecting the egg shells. In my opinion the coke and coffee are going to be the worst for the egg shells. The tap water isn't looking to bad right now. We all can't wait to unpack the messy experiment that we did last week.

Fair testing

Currently Room 15 are conducting an experiment. Here's what we did: First we planted some grass in yogurt contains.
       Then we made some coffee and tea and got some Hot                       water,Coke,Tap water, and some oil

 We decided that we would keep them growing for two weeks being fed every morning a tablespoon of liquid. Currently Coffee,Tap Water,Tea and hot water are growing best. We found that when we poured coke onto the plants the carbon dioxide would fizz and make a hole in the dirt. The question we want answered for this experiment is What liquid is best for your garden? We cant wait to see how this turns out.

Ryan's Cross country experience

Yesterday was cross country   and when my race began I sprinted to get in second place. Half way around I ran out of breath so I stopped to have a breather but then I got passed and I was in 10 place.        



After the race I was hot and bothered as you can see in the picture to the left.

Avigail's Cross Country experience

Yesterday was Cross Country. Unlucky me had to run in the 10 year olds girls race. It was pretty exhausting and tough because we had to run 5 laps around the field! Sadly i didn't came in the top 5 but i tried my best anyways. Did you like the photo I put up there? It was the ten year old girls and me all lined up together before we had all those races. Well it was also a fun, exciting day.

Poppys Cross Country Experience

On Tuesday the 30th of August cross country was on like donkey kong! Sadly the seniors had to run at school because we didn't have enough parents to   run at Minogue park. These are the people that got placings for the 10 year old girl races:

The 9 year olds had to run 1.5km (4 Laps),The 10 year olds had to run 2km (5 laps) and the 11 year olds had to run 2.5km (6 laps)

"Look" everyone scream once we saw the fluttring flames of the olmpic flame.

It was the opening of the Rio 2016 olympics. We where at the olympic stadium watching the astounding opning ceromony. They had just litten the towering torch. The torch was artificial trees in a huge bowl with flames floating like fire flies. 

This made me feel amazing, it felt lke i was floating with the fire. The fire started to roar and suddenely the fire burst up into one big flame and the whole of Rio lit up with BE THE INSPRATION.

Something that I enjoyed this term is Book Week because there were lots of interesting books that you could buy from the library and when I was in the library I bought a book called The Honest Truth.

Something challenging/Hard that I have this term is Maths because when we were doing a graph for statistics and we have to have questions to ask people and do a tally chart and then do a graph and then write a summary.

Something interesting that I have learnt is my writing because we were doing a poem, report or a recount and the topic we had to do is seasons and we watched an interesting video about seasons and why we have seasons to help us for our writing.

My Term 2 Reflection!!!

What have I enjoyed most about Term 2?

This term we have had many different activities and trips like the Museum trip and learning about art, but what I most enjoyed was taking part in a special trip to meet FLOX to ask her some questions.

What have I found most challenging this term?

Lots of things but mostly maths. Learning my 6 divide bys and what a box and whisker graph is. Especially when we had to create our own statistical investigation and do Mean Medium and Mode.

What have I found very interesting in Term 2?

Many things at school are interesting, But at reading Me,Rose and Alex learnt about the Rainbow warrior and 9/11. It was cool learning about New Zealand history and the attacks on the world trade centres.

I'm so claustrophobic, Dirt surrounded me and fart smelling smells also. They make me sleep on a hard as rocks bed, I still don't know why I am in here. As I stumble down the misty, slug covered hallway. Everyone can recall my story, the murder who shot a thousand people in a movie theater on Christmas Day. I try to tell them that i didn't do it but the menacing looking guards shove me into a wall and give me a hiding. I yell and scream, it is incredibly hard being the only female in this disgusting revoltive ALKATRAZ.

Assembly

Last friday room 15 was showing the audience what we had been learning about. my favorite thing in assembly was everything. And it was funny when oliver put cellotape all over his face we all laughed.

15 News

Due to 15 news not working at Room 15's assembly we decided it would be a good idea to upload it to our blog. In this episode we have a Chief's interview, Class interview and much much more!

I also haven't done a blog post in a while let me update you:

In room 15 we have learnt about:

• Report writing
• Semi colons
• Practising our assembly
•  And many more things

 We have also been learning about New Zealand Artist FLOX.

Flox creates her own stencils. To make the stencils it takes anywhere between 5 mins to 4 hours. She creates these stencils using card from spices in Auckland.

To create the stencils she uses card and a a surgery scalpel. She went to art school and graduated in 2003 then she did a business course so she could run her business FLOX Before she went to Auckland she was a professional Squash player.

Art has always been in Hayley's blood, she always feels like doing art so she feels like a whole.She gets her inspiration from other artists, especially NZ artist.

Hayley uses spray paint to create her murals. 

She puts the stencil that she has made on the wall or surface.Then sprays paints over the top of it to get the stencilled pattern. 

Flox loves the colour green and uses it all the time. She tries to stay away from black.Because it is hard to blend and there is not much black in nature.

Room 15 assembly

                                                           Day in the life of Room 15!

Last Friday in week 2 we did assembly. Our theme for assembly was a day in the life of room 15;so younger students could understand what it is like to be in the seniors, better yet room 15.

We performed a growth mindset skit. We also spoke about what we where learning about in reading, maths and writing. The photo above is of me and Matthew reading a report we had written.The report was about Vardon school.

An interesting fact is that we sang a song about the 8 times;we all are still learning our times tables.
"The song was all about them 8's"

One thing that wasn't very good was that 15 news didn't play for us, we don't know why.

Week 2, Friday.

A day in the life of Room 15 what I found really cool about this assembly was our dance. Our dance was amazing; the song was the best part by far!

I was really disappointed when 15 news didn't work. We spent ages making that. But lucky we were resilient. 

The most interesting part about this assembly was Andrea; she stepped in when Jayda wasn't there.

FLOX visit

On Wednesday the 11th May 2016 Poppy and Rose went and visited the New Zealand artist FLOX aka Hayley king.

 She was creating a mural on the side on the Hamilton library representing the Hamilton gardens.

She graduated from art school in 2003 then went on to complete a short business course. Before becoming an artist she was a professional squash player. 

She creates her own stencils by using card and cutting them out by using a surgery scalpel. Most of her artwork is nature inspired because she grew up in a small town surrounded by nature.

She tries to stay away from the colour black but loves the colour green because most things in nature are green. She uses her stencils and spray paint to create her masterpieces.

A hot summers day

Are my eyes it burns the sun was cooking. Salty sweat dripping down my face as I'm running  to the other side of the field. I picked up my refreshing ,crisp water bottle and had a long sip. I could smell the branches cooking in the sun . The horrible  stench went up my nose.

Tabloid sports day andrea

It was the day for running,sweating and the most time consuming thing of all ''exercising''.It was tabloid sports day.It was so hot my water bottle couldn't even stand the heat.Sweat was dripping down my face into my mouth and ears.I could mostly smell the freshly cut grass that MR Peache mowed the day before.I could even smell the branches from the trees cooking in the sun ''can that happen'' I say.Even when I was working with my team I could smell a horrible stench of warm bodies.Well I  was roasting in the sun looking for shade.It was like a volcano right in front of me.I just wanted to be in the cool shade but I couldn't. I saw kids jumping up and down screaming very loud.I couldn't stop looking at the hot blazing sun.You know if you look at the sun you could damage your eyes.I heard parents kids and teachers screaming ''ngata ngata'' on all the events .When we finished we did tug of war.There were teams and classes.we got ready ''go'' I heard.pulling as hard as could.my hands felt sore.after all that I was so exhausted. at least i had a great time
