Art

In Room 15 we have been doing art! We have doing all kinds of art like henna art, cartoon art and 2 point perspective. Henna art: Henna art is a very detailed piece of body art, You use Henna paste to create the art on your body this art can take up to 2 and a half days. Cartoon Art: Cartoon art can be cute but very complicated, Like cute cat eyes can look easy but are very hard! 2 point perspective: 2 Point Perspective is a very very awesome 3D looking piece of art, You can do the art in boxes or words. Here are some links to the you tube videos  that we learnt how to draw cartoon and 2 point perspective drawings. By Poppy

Introducing new people to Vardon

On the first day of term 3 we welcomed our new Deputy Principle Mr. Cowie. Mr. Cowie came from Qatar in Dubai. He was a maths teacher. Mr. Cowie is really nice. Over the last couple of days he has been touring the school and learning all of our names. His office is in the school library. Also this term Room 16 opened. At the moment there is only nine students in there but i think it will grow. Our school would like to welcome Mr. Cowie and our new pupils (students)!

Wonderful Water

In Room 15 we read a book about saving water. There was a list of different activity's we had to do and the last activity was making a save the earths water poster. Did you know that 1% of the earths water is for drinking and using water for humans? Water is the most valuable thing a human could have. Oil is less valuable than water because you can survive without oil but you can't live without water. If we didn't have water this would happen: Plants die which means animals would because they would have no food then we would die because we would have no food or water. As you can see it is a possibility that we could run out of water which means we need to moderate our intake and make sure we are not polluting our water because if we pollute our ocean we will slowly
have less and less water which means we would have no water.

Personifiction

Image result for personification]'In Room 15 we were learning about Personification. What is Personification? Personification is a form of descriptive language. When using Personification you are using a Non-Human object and incorporating a Human/Animal action into the Non-Human object like this: The clouds where running across the sky. What was I Personifying? The clouds. What was the human trait or action? Running. Personification sounds tricky but when you get to know it a tiny bit more you understand and it gets easier and easier as you go!

P.S Post a comment with a personification sentence in it!

Particles in Solids, Liquids and Gases

In Room 15 we are learning about the water cycle. Lately we have been learning about Molecules. Molecules are every where but we were learning about Molecules in: Liquids,Gases and soilds. The Molecules in liquids are close together but can be moved around. Molecules in gas are free range and move anywhere. And Molecules in soilids are really close together and don't move at all. We were tallking about things that have all of these in one So somone in Room 15 said " Ice blocks are liquid and then frozen ito a soilid and this white icy gas comes off it". So ice blocks have all of these key things with Molecules in them.

Volleyballer Taster

This term our focus is large ball skills. We are playing loads of different sports and learning skills that will help us to perform these games better. We had a lady come in to teach us about Volleyball from project energise. It was really fun. We had to serve the ball then try and get it over the net. First we had a warm up where we had partners and we would roll it to each other and when it would get to you, you had to sit on it with your bottom.

Google Maps

Today we used google maps to find places all over the world!
Here is an image of our school! -Vardon School-
Some interesting places we found were... Obama's house, the leaning tower of Pisa and the Eiffel tower. We found out that there are many satellites out in space that allow us to have a bird's eye view of places all over the world!

Warrent of Fitness

To prepare for camp, the senior syndicate completed a warrant of fitness. One of the tasks was to complete a vertical jump. We had to measure how far we could jump verses our own reach. We tried to beat this each week.
The app we used was thinglink. If you move your mouse across the picture, you will see different comments made by some of the people in the picture.
Let us know what you think!

We used pic monkey to create this cool display. Each person in our class will be creating a similar poster. Come check them out in each of our blogs.

Welcome to 2015

Kia Ora and Welcome to 2015!
Our “Wildly Wonderful” box on the board has been continually full with the names of Room 15 students’ settling quickly to work, listening to instructions and following the Wild West Treaty. Our first few weeks focus will be about working co-operatively with others, learning more about our class mates and showing fair play during fitness and team sports activities - this will be particularly important for our syndicate camp in week 6. We are all looking forward to an action packed term full of different activities and challenges.

Check out our Wildly Wonderful Class!
