Trees for survival planting

On Monday 24th August 2017, we were doing tree's for survival planting it was hard work and we planted over 600 plants with another school it was very fun because we planted all of it with a different school .At the end we had a cupcake and juice it was delicious.I
had to take a tablet out of the ground and put a little bit of soil in and then take the plant out of the bag then put the tablet in the ground, and put the plant in and cover it up.And we went back to school,I went in Mrs Wyllie's car and we played for half an hour and packed and went home :)

Keeping Ourselves Safe Program

For the last 2 weeks room 15 have been learning about keeping ourselves safe.We have been learning about the positives and negatives about YouTube, Gmail, chatting to someone online that you don't know, snapchat and facebook. We also were learning about different types of abuse such as sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse and mental abuse with the police officer constable Jacob. Room 15 also watched a video about cyber abuse. The most challenging bit for me was coming up with all the different types of abuse. The most easiest thing for me was the positives and negatives because you can do cool things and learn cool things.

Year 6 Painting

It was week five on tuesday 22nd of August 2017. We started off by going to the hall we sat down well Miss Wyllie and Miss Woolf were tell us the safety rules.Planks of wood were spreaded around the hall then we started sketching ourselves on the wooden planks. Then we started painting our portrait of ourselves. After morning tea we went over with sharpie and out lined our painting. After that I let my portrait dry so we could hang it up on the fence. So then we grabbed our things and had a good time.

Pic Monkey

This year the year 6's started off by sketching on a big piece of wood for about an hour after morning tea. We started painting, this took about 2 hours. My main colours were red and blue, I got stuck for 10 minutes doing my hair because there were no colours to use.  Next we added sharpie, it was easy we just needed to go around our body and clothing.

Cross Country

On the 26 of August 2017 all the 9-11 year olds walked down to Minogue park on a hot day for Cross Country.
Cross Country was a very challenging thing running up steep hills  and facing muddy puddles. But it was even better coming first in the 11 year old girls and coming third out of the 11 year old boys and girls. What a great day we all had and I hope you liked Cross Country too because I loved it so much. By Ashley-Jade Rm15

Trees For Trees For Survival

On Thursday the 24th of August 2017 Room 15 went to go represent Vardon school at the Trees for Survival Day. We went to go plant some of the trees that we had all ready planted at our school. It was just Vardon School and Pukete School. We all got delicious cupcakes and juice boxes. After that we went back to school and then we went home. Room 15 was all exhausted at the end of the day.

YEAR 6 PAINTING TASK

This is my year 6 painting task memorial for when we leave. This is so we can be remembered. This was a task that took a whole day to do. First we had to wear old clothes so when we paint it won't matter if you get paint on ourselves.
After that we drew off our draft onto the plank and if you finished fast you could start painting. Then the second block we carried on painting that was pretty hard to get it the way you wanted. In the third block we let them dry. To sharpie the outline it was also hard because the wood wasn't smooth. This is the process that it took to do the painting.

Fence painting

On Tuesday 22 August 2017 all the year 6 students started painting their fence art on a long wooden fence post. At first there was challenges like what colors to use and what to make your character wear but it all came together. Fence painting was so cool i loved it and this is the memory that Vardon School will remember me by. What an experience to have! Keep an eye out for these fence posts on the school field. They will be up in the next few weeks.

Trees For Survival day

On Thursday 23rd of August 2017, Room 15 and a class from Pukete School completed a project called Trees For Survival.
We planted the trees because they help New Zealand grow and supply the land with fresh oxygen, but most of all, it helps stop water pollution in the Waikato River as the roots of the plants stablise the soil.
The staff from fonterra showed how we should plant like green fingers.
Before we had to put the plant in the hole, we had to make sure a little tablet was in that hole. This 'tablet' acts as a fertilizer for the plants to make them grow fast, strong, and overall better for the environment. We had to make sure to carefully take the plant out of the bag, then level the stalk with the ground.
Everyone had to check that it wouldn't pull out, so we had to stomp the loose dirt around the plant so it could get a better grip onto the soil.
Room 15 and Pukete had to plant about 600 plants around the Fonterra factory.

Rawiri's Tree's for Survival Writing

On Thursday we  went  planting and it was cool.  I  saw the lake and heaps of trees and heaps of   bushes.

Then we went back to school.

My Art picture

In room 15 the year 5s have been doing squiggling art. I used Blue, Orange, Red, Green, Yellow and purple. It was pretty easy but every colour took ages to colour. We have been only doing this for two days and a bit. This art could go for sale for my art shop when i'm older and every day i can look back and see the art.
We had to melt or blend the colours  so it looks like its actually 3D.

I’m Reghan i'm going to talk to you about my story about when i got struck by lightning. I was walking to school and it was raining I couldn't go in car because my Mum was running late for work, and i didn't have a sweatshirt on and the Lightning struck my arm but then the flash made me the smartest person alive. When i got to school I was late and it was Reading time and I'm Reading a chapter book and everyone was ahead of me and i looked at the book I read it in five seconds.

…but then the flash made me… go dizzy twirled around what kind of animal would go speeding past , i stroked my chin for a few minutes "oh its a cheetah one of the fastest mammal  ever" i said .I  had a enormous headache that night after that annoying cheetah twirled me around i had no
equipment i was feeling very dozy until ...Zzz...later that morning i was looking around i thought " wait what i was sleeping under a rock ".I then stood up and looked around i saw heaps of bones and skulls that was odd then i heard purring i knew strate away it was the cheetah's den.
My t-shirt was torn, my pants where a little torn so i quietly sneaked out then i ran for my life .

On a beautiful sunny day me and my friends [ Emily and Tyra] went out for lunch at the Bake House until something started flashing. They turned around Gradually and we were frightened we had never seen anything like it. And that flash was a lightning BOLT .I was so SHOCKED  .The lightning bolt came zooming around me but then the flash made me jump up in the air  so high that I touched the clouds. Then back down I came landing on lightning bolt  so then me Emily and Tyra became best forever friends and we lived happily ever after.
