Google Maps

Today we used google maps to find places all over the world!
Here is an image of our school! -Vardon School-
Some interesting places we found were... Obama's house, the leaning tower of Pisa and the Eiffel tower. We found out that there are many satellites out in space that allow us to have a bird's eye view of places all over the world!

Warrent of Fitness

To prepare for camp, the senior syndicate completed a warrant of fitness. One of the tasks was to complete a vertical jump. We had to measure how far we could jump verses our own reach. We tried to beat this each week.
The app we used was thinglink. If you move your mouse across the picture, you will see different comments made by some of the people in the picture.
Let us know what you think!

Caving at Karakariki

At our camp, we were able to do some awesome caving. We have used a thinglink app to post this picture. If you move your mouse over the picture, you will see comments or stories from some of the people in the picture.

Camp Karakariki

Room 15/14 just went away on Camp. We had a great time with loads of cool activities. There was abseiling (which a lot of people expected to be on water) rock climbing, caving, archery, shooting, kayaking and heaps more. Here are some of the pictures and highlights.
We used pic monkey to create this cool display. Each person in our class will be creating a similar poster. Come check them out in each of our blogs.

Welcome to 2015

Kia Ora and Welcome to 2015!
Our “Wildly Wonderful” box on the board has been continually full with the names of Room 15 students’ settling quickly to work, listening to instructions and following the Wild West Treaty. Our first few weeks focus will be about working co-operatively with others, learning more about our class mates and showing fair play during fitness and team sports activities - this will be particularly important for our syndicate camp in week 6. We are all looking forward to an action packed term full of different activities and challenges.

Check out our Wildly Wonderful Class!

Reading

In room 15, my reading group have been reading a book called Super Finn. It's about a boy who wants to be a superhero. Despite being told by teachers, family and friends, Finn never stopped trying. He has been told many times that if he failed one more time during a project that he would have to redo the year. Finn is determined to get an achieved on his careers project, and when he based it on being a superhero, he had everybody lining up with questions. Super Finn is a great example of perseverance and expressing. The fact that when someone tries something and really puts their mind to it, they can achieve anything.

Winter sports - Soccer

For the last 2 weeks we have been doing winter sports. We did soccer. We have been going out onto the field in the morning and been learning some soccer skills. I have learnt how to dribble with the ball, try to keep the ball away from other players by keeping the side of my body facing them, and our class have been learning not to kick the ball with our toes or else we'll lose control of the ball. We have to kick our ball with the sides of our feet. I really enjoyed soccer and I'd like to do it again.
